Green Initiative
GREEN COMPANY VISION
The grass is always greener where green business initiatives are concerned because of one simple fact: new green business is necessary to help sustain a healthy planet; and those who are engaging in green business practices are continuing to pave the way through a very thick environmentally-challenged forest.
The good news is that because green business initiatives are still in their infancy stage, the opportunity we have is to become early adopters who are now entering this market and are engaging in new green businesses are quickly becoming the explorers of a new frontier. Some of the initiatives taken by Touchpoints are:
- Bring your own mug/bottle – no plastics or paper cups
- Switch off the power strip of all computers/lights/electronic and electrical devices – where possible put motion switches
- Always leave systems on standby or sleep mode while away from the desk
- Recycling initiatives in the office and encouraging all co-tenants to participate
- Buy energy efficient office products and equipment such as energy-saving light bulbs
- Buy green products for cleaning around your company
- Use less paper – try extra hard to run that paperless office that has been in the works for a decade or more. Only print one copy of a report and distribute throughout the office if everyone needs to read it. Forward as much email as possible. Proofread on the screen more and print fewer drafts of reports and letters.
- Receive and pay bills without paper copy
- Recycle paper products including newspapers, magazines, printer paper and grocery bags
- Recycle old computers and peripherals
- Buy biodegradable office supplies
- Buy organic food for company usage and at gatherings
- Drink tap water instead of bottled water
- Regularly replace the filter on the HVAC system
- Stop junk mail
- Install a programmable thermostat in the office and homes of the significant stakeholders of the company
